 TATT PRESS RELEASE

ACCREDITATION OF COACHES  

TATT has embarked on a programme for development of tennis that is coach driven. Our objective is to provide an avenue for improvement both in terms of the quality of the coaches, through the provision of training, upgrading and technical & personal development and an increase in the quality of local coaches in order to effectively execute TATT's Programmes. In essence, it is the fostering of a mutually beneficial relationship whereby coaches committed to TATT's agenda and TATT contribute to their development. It is with this in mind, TATT has scheduled a meeting, inviting ALL COACHES to engage in dialogue in the "introduction of the system of accreditation ".

COACH ON ITF-PTA SCHOLARSHIP

30th June 2005 The Tennis Association of Trinidad and Tobago, would like to inform the media, and daily press. That Mr. Curtis Gonzales one of our level 2 coaches has been selected for a Coaching Scholarship at the ITF Performance Tennis Academy (PTA) for the month of July. Mr. Gonzales was favored from a few coaches, who’s names were sent to the International Tennis Federation Mr. Gustavo Granitto ITF Development Officer for Central America and the Caribbean because of his commitment and hard work to the game, and his success in the level 2 course in St. Vincent in 2004 This scholarship programme is offered each year by the ITF to give top coaches the exposure to other International Coaches and players at the academy. Coaches who attend 3-4 weeks get accommodations free but need to pay their airfare, shorter periods you pay both airfare and accommodation. But on this occasion Mr. Gonzales airfare will be paid for by the ITF, this is the first time that the ITF will be paying for a coach from Trinidad and Tobago to attend the Academy, Mr. Gonzales leaves on Sunday 3rd July 2005 and returns on Friday 29th July 2005. PRESS RELEASE

The Tennis Association of Trinidad and Tobago, continues to be committed to the development of Tennis and Coaches in Trinidad and Tobago. The Association has nominated Mr. Curtis Gonzales one of our new certified Level 2 coaches to attend a course in Argentina from Thursday 14th to the 24th April to 2005. Mr. Gonzales is also part of our National Training Programme. Curtis along with 3 other coaches Mr. Dale Boyce, Mr. Anthony Williams and Mr. David Denoon from Tobago successfully completed the course which was held in St. Vincent. To date Trinidad and Tobago has 7 certified level 2 coaches. Mr. Anthony Jeremiah (98), Mr. Lennox Francis, Mr. Wendell Mc Connie (02), and the previous four (04). This course is sponsored by The Pan American Solidarity Organization (PASO) through the Olympic Committee of Trinidad and Tobago The outline of the course: 8days 56hrs.
